Who Will Tell?

God has, in His grace and wisdom, seen fit to lead our family to a young but growing church plant in downtown Pretoria. The church is led by a young national pastor named Sibusiso Mlotshwa. Because of the amazing (and sometimes mind-boggling) diversity of the city and the church, Pastor Sibusiso (a Zulu) preaches in English. He is an excellent expository preacher. Right now, he is preaching through the book of Philippians. As we have talked with him over the last month or so, we have asked him how we could be a help to the church. He mentioned that their greatest need at this time is for help in the area of evangelism. This corresponds wonderfully with the primary burden of our heart during this season of ministry here on the field as we are beginning to make plans and prepare for our first furlough, scheduled to begin in August of this year. The thought that has been running through my mind often during these recent days is this: “Do the work of an evangelist” (2 Timothy 4:5).

We have already had a couple of very encouraging times of evangelism in downtown Pretoria with Pastor Sibusiso, distributing Lies & Truth booklets and engaging people in conversation concerning the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We look forward to more of these times in the near future as well as getting more of the church members involved on a weekly basis.
